Tuesday evening I attended VSB’s program on Study Abroad and International Internships in Bartley 1010. Ms. Campanella and Professor Ken Taylor both shared their expertise and experience working with the Study Abroad and International Internship programs. Personally I am interested in Studying Abroad but before this discussion I had no idea where I wanted to go. I learned how to get started, and where to go to apply for the program I am interested in. I had no idea where the Office of International Studies was, but now I know where it is. I also did not know I had to visit the office personally before pursuing a certain program.
I did not realize that there were Summer Study Abroad opportunities either. The programs are run by VSB faculty, and are five to nine weeks. I think this would be a great opportunity for myself because I would be able to gain credits over the summer, and experience traveling to different parts of the world. This opportunity appealed to me because I would not have to worry about transferring credits and missing a semester here at Villanova. Another perk is that almost every summer program includes an internship along with class work. The program that interested me the most was the Studies and Global Practicum in Rome. I have never been to Italy and it one of the places on my bucket list.
